Islamabad, May 2, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz led a crucial session to assess the ongoing Lahore Development Plan, directing the Senior Minister and Chief Secretary to take full charge of completing development tasks on time.
She underlined the importance of accountability and insisted that officials meet deadlines without excuses.
The gathering concluded that the initial phase of street upgrades and construction must wrap up by June 30.
This includes the renovation of 3,705 streets under the Lahore Municipal Corporation and another 230 managed by WASA.
Additionally, 1,573 extra streets overseen by WASA are slated for repair by July 31.
To maintain steady oversight, monthly progress goals will now be introduced across all projects within the plan.
The following phase will concentrate on rehabilitating streets and launching fresh projects in Allama Iqbal Town, Aziz Bhatti Town, and Wagah Town.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stressed that delivering these projects on schedule is crucial to easing public hardship.
She remarked, “When development work lags, it directly disrupts people’s daily routines. I hold myself accountable before the public and refuse to watch them suffer because of delays.”
By reinforcing clear monthly targets and assigning direct responsibility to top officials, the government aims to speed up progress and ensure that Lahore’s residents experience real improvements in their neighborhoods.

The Lahore Development Plan is now positioned as a flagship initiative under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, combining infrastructure upgrades with stronger governance.
As the deadlines approach, all eyes will be on how well the administration delivers — and whether residents finally receive the relief they’ve long awaited.
