Islamabad, May 2, 2025: The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) ended in the negative against the US Dollar (USD) today, following an initial exchange rate of 281 in the interbank market.
Throughout the day, the interbank rate hovered between 280 and 282/$ before closing at the 280 marks. Rates in the open market were consistent, staying within the 281-282 range.
The trend remained bearish, and the PKR closed lower against the USD.
It also recorded losses against most of the major currencies during today’s trading session.
The Pakistani Rupee experienced a slight dip of 0.03% day-on-day (DoD), losing 8 paisas and closing at 281.06 against the US Dollar.
On a fiscal year-to-date (FYTD) basis, the PKR has depreciated by 0.97% against the greenback.

Other Currency Movements
In the interbank market, the PKR weakened against a number of key currencies today.
The PKR lost 2 paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED) and 3 paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
It also saw a decline of 15 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD) and 54 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD).
On a positive note, the rupee appreciated by Rs. 1.64 against the Euro (EUR) and Rs. 2.55 against the British Pound (GBP).
