Islamabad, Nov 5: LDA Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Commercial Use and Fee Defaulters. The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) shut 373 properties throughout the city on Monday as part of a large-scale operation against unlawful commercial activity and properties that were behind on their commercial payments.
With assistance from the LDA enforcement squad and police, Chief Town Planner I Asad Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali spearheaded the enforcement drive, which was started under the direction of Director General (DG) Tahir Farooq.
Gulberg, Garden Town, Wahdat Road, Johar Town, Wapda Town, Quaid-e-Azam Town, Canal Road, Poonch Road, and Samanabad were among the important locations where the LDA crews conducted the operation. Schools, clinics, pharmacies, wedding venues, beauty parlors, real estate offices, and cash-and-carry shops were among the many types of businesses that were included in the premises that were sealed.
According to reports, these institutions received prior letters alerting them to the possibility of non-compliance. In a related anti-encroachment initiative, DG Tahir Farooq examined the Sabzazar Scheme, paying special attention to the vicinity of Babu Sabu and Ring Road, where encroachments had occurred on properties controlled by the LDA.
Over 100 kanals of land were cleared by the LDA over a number of Sabzazar blocks, and the reclaimed portions were marked with boards and fencing. The elimination of encroachments surrounding properties held by LDA and WASA, including drainage areas close to Babu Sabu, was ordered by DG Farooq.
The goal of the crackdown is to recover public land for legitimate usage and guarantee adherence to commercial property laws. The LDA’s measures demonstrate a stronger determination to uphold the law in the urban environment of Lahore.
