Islamabad, Aug 9: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has revealed plans to reconstruct the Thokar Niaz Baig crossroads in an effort to improve the entry and exit ports of Lahore and streamline traffic flow.
According to specifics, the project intends to improve commuter convenience for those commuting between the Motorway and Multan Road by enlarging and beautifying the city’s main gateway. When LDA Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed and NESPAK staff visited the Thokar Niaz Baig site recently, LDA Director General Tahir Farooq was shown the suggested design. Chief Engineer Saeed announced that the project, which would concentrate on maintaining and repairing the main city entrance, will soon get underway.
In addition to major beautifying work, the makeover will involve lane delineation, new signs installation, and asphalt resurfacing. The pathways will also be extended and broadened to handle the increased volume of pedestrian traffic. It is anticipated that the project will greatly reduce traffic and provide a smoother vehicular movement into and out of Lahore. DG Tahir Farooq emphasized how crucial it is to update the signage so that people may navigate the region more effectively. In a similar incident, DG Farooq stopped by the LDA One Window Cell to see how well the applications that had been processed over the previous 24 hours were doing.
He expressed his displeasure with the file processing delays and made it plain that such inefficiencies would not be accepted. After then, DG Farooq called a conference of all housing directors to discuss the problems with the One Window Cell’s performance. He emphasized that any backlog in their departments would be the responsibility of the heads of town planning and housing.
The officers were told to increase their operational effectiveness and actively participate in fieldwork. During certain working hours, he also required directors to be physically present at the One Window Cell. Weekly performance reviews will henceforth be carried out to make sure that objectives are fulfilled, and underperformance will be dealt with harshly.
