Islamabad, Sep 23: Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik will take over as Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) on September 30. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) made the announcement in a statement that was made public on Monday.
Lt. Gen. Malik, who is currently employed by the previous administration as the Adjutant General at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, takes over from Lt. Gen. Nadeem Anjum, who held the role since his appointment in 2021.
Throughout his illustrious military career, Gen. Anjum oversaw crucial operations in Kurram Agency and Karachi and held the position of commandant of the Command and Staff College in Quetta. His time as DG ISI came after he played a big part in running Corps V in Karachi.
Lt. Gen. Malik, who oversaw an infantry brigade in Waziristan and an infantry division in Balochistan, brings a wealth of experience to his current role. During his military training, he was awarded an honorary sword as one of his achievements.
Besides, Gen. Malik has taught at the Command and Staff College in Quetta as well as the National Defence University, where he held the position of Chief Instructor. To further strengthen his qualifications as he assumes this important position, he also holds degrees from the Royal College of Defence Studies in London and Fort Leavenworth in the United States.
