Islamabad, Apr 22, 2025: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has revealed that work on the $2 billion M-6 and M-9 motorway projects in Sindh will commence this year, signaling a major boost to the region’s infrastructure.

During a top-level meeting at the National Highways Authority (NHA) Central Zone, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to start construction on the Mansehra-Naran-Kaghan motorways in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa simultaneously.

These new roads aim to enhance travel efficiency and regional connectivity.

Aleem Khan also confirmed that they are upgrading the Quetta-Karachi N-25 highway to a four-lane motorway standard, improving transportation links in Balochistan.

Moreover, vital highway developments connecting Sukkur, Hyderabad, and Karachi are part of the government’s larger transport overhaul.

The minister asked for a comprehensive proposal regarding the 18-kilometre connecting route from Lahore to Kasur, urging officials to prepare detailed and meaningful presentations to facilitate decision-making.

He instructed the NHA Central Zone teams to accelerate the execution of ongoing projects and ensure their completion without unnecessary delays.

He reiterated the importance of never compromising on project quality, ensuring that all construction work reflects the highest standards.

He also directed the NHA to improve the visual appeal and sanitation of city entry points while ensuring that new highways maintain consistent upkeep and beautification standards.

While visiting the NHA Central Zone headquarters, the minister planted a tree, symbolizing growth and sustainability.

The Federal Secretary for Communications and the Chairman of NHA briefed him on the authority’s performance.

Aleem Khan urged government officers to remain committed and hardworking and promised to honor their entitlements and promotions.

He assured that honest and high-performing officials will receive recognition and appreciation.

Finally, he instructed the NHA to coordinate with the Ring Road Authority and resolve all pending matters promptly, ensuring smoother collaboration and uninterrupted development progress.
