Islamabad, Nov 12: Maersk to Invest $2 Billion in Pakistan’s Maritime Sector, Says Qaiser Ahmed. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, welcomed senior representatives from Maersk Line, the prominent Danish shipping company, during a crucial meeting on Monday, ahead of the Danish Foreign Minister’s scheduled visit to Pakistan. During the discussions, Minister Qaiser Ahmed expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to partner with Maersk Line, which has pledged a monumental investment of USD 2 billion in the nation’s maritime industry.

Qaiser Ahmed regarded this investment as a noteworthy accomplishment for Pakistan’s shipping and logistics sector, highlighting the long-term economic advantages that could arise from strengthened collaboration. The Maersk Line officials conveyed their strong confidence in the Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, expressing their contentment with the groundwork laid for this significant investment milestone.

Minister Qaiser Ahmed assured the Maersk representatives of the Ministry’s unwavering support in facilitating their operations and addressing any challenges that might occur. “We are entirely ready to work alongside Maersk Line to ensure an effective and seamless process for their investment,” the Minister stated. Qaiser Ahmed further noted that the partnership terms were being finalized, with the current meeting being essential for fostering mutual understanding prior to a formal agreement.

The Minister expressed hope that this collaboration would open doors for increased foreign investment and advance the development of Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure. In closing the discussion, Minister Shaikh reiterated the government’s dedication to resolving any issues that may arise in order to fully back and promote Maersk’s investment. This partnership is anticipated to create a host of opportunities in port development, job creation, and overall economic expansion, thereby reinforcing Pakistan’s status as a significant player in the global shipping arena.
