Islamabad, Oct 8: Mark Zuckerberg Commissions Custom Porsche Minivan for His Family’s Use. Co-founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg has indulged his passion for unique cars to the extent of ordering a Porsche minivan for his spouse, Priscilla Chan. Given that Porsche does not produce a minivan, Zuckerberg came up with a clever solution when Chan voiced her wish for one. In collaboration with West Coast Customs, he converted a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT into an elongated family car.
Zuckerberg revealed that he created this unique “minivan” himself in an Instagram post. One unique element of the Cayenne is the electrically sliding doors, which are a rare innovation. Although the Toyota Century also has sliding doors, this innovation isn’t totally new to SUVs, but it gives the Porsche a distinctive look.
There is more in Zuckerberg’s collection of cars. He also bought a matched Porsche 911 GT3 Touring with a manual transmission in addition to the expanded Cayenne, demonstrating his love for cars with three pedals, which he also displayed with his Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. The normal Cayenne Turbo GT starts at over $200,000, so even while the exact cost of the customized model is unknown, it is certain that this alteration came with a high price tag.
Remarkably, Porsche has previously dabbled with the concept of a minivan. The business produced the Porsche B32 in the 1980s; it was essentially a Volkswagen T3 van with a 911 Carrera engine installed. Porsche debuted the Vision Renndienst, a futuristic concept electric minivan with six seats, in 2018.
This design may have served as some of the inspiration for Zuckerberg’s custom Cayenne, even if it remained a scale model. In contrast to the Vision Renndienst, Zuckerberg’s Cayenne Turbo GT most likely has a more conventional seating configuration. Its central driver’s seat was surrounded by two passenger seats, much like the McLaren F1. Two seats at the front, two in the center, and at least two in the third row are anticipated.
Porsche intends to introduce a three-row electric SUV possibly with six or seven seats in 2027. It wouldn’t be shocking if Zuckerberg’s unique design is eventually replaced by this future model, which provides a more sophisticated, mass-produced option for opulent family vacations.
