Islamabad, Apr 18, 2025: In a major development, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has retrieved over 204 kanals of prime land that was reportedly acquired unlawfully by Bahria Town Lahore, a real estate project linked to businessman Malik Riaz.

The Official Employees Cooperative Housing Society Ltd originally owned this reclaimed land, located in the Mauza Manak and Mauza Bhai Kot areas of Tehsil Raiwind, Lahore.

According to NAB, authorities transferred the land—worth billions of rupees—without any legal justification.

The investigation revealed that the transfer allegedly occurred through a conspiracy involving key figures from the housing society, revenue department, and Bahria Town Lahore.

This illicit land deal came to light after NAB launched a formal inquiry, exposing the unauthorized transaction and implicating multiple parties in the scheme.

Malik Riaz, the founder of Bahria Town, currently resides in the United Arab Emirates, and authorities have named him a wanted individual in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

This high-profile case also led to the conviction of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

NAB is now preparing to request Malik Riaz’s extradition through Interpol and is linking the request to the £190 million repatriation case initially investigated by the UK’s National Crime Agency.

As part of its broader crackdown, NAB has also frozen various properties and assets linked to Bahria Town and Malik Riaz.

Authorities suspect that individuals acquired both commercial and residential properties through fraudulent means.

The bureau urges the public to exercise caution and avoid investing in any Bahria Town ventures, especially those marketed in Dubai, until they fully resolve the legal matters.

This recovery marks another milestone in NAB’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption and reclaim public resources.

Authorities are continuing their pursuit of justice in land and financial crimes, especially those involving powerful individuals and large-scale real estate scams.

By recovering illegally acquired land and warning the public of potential investment risks, NAB is sending a clear message: no one is above the law.

As investigations unfold, authorities expect to reveal more in what could become one of the country’s most significant accountability drives in recent years.
