Islamabad, Nov 9: Pakistan Railways Launches Special Trains for Sikh Pilgrims Ahead of Religious Festivities. Pakistan Railways has proclaimed the launch of two special trains to assist the Sikh community in their annual pilgrimage.
The first special train is scheduled to leave Karachi on November 12 at 10:30 p.m., with a shuttle from Larkana joining at midnight to connect at Rohri station.The second special train is set to depart from Nankana Sahib on November 16 at 4 PM, with a return shuttle from Rohri to Larkana to accommodate the pilgrims’ needs. These services provide accessible travel for Sikh pilgrims attending the annual religious observance at Nankana Sahib.
Recently, Pakistan Railways rolled out a special train from Karachi to Raiwind on November 6 as well. This train, equipped with 14 economy-class coaches, is anticipated to generate around Rs. 8.5 million in revenue, contributing to Pakistan Railways’ aim of surpassing Rs. 100 billion in revenue for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
In the prior fiscal year, Pakistan Railways reached a record revenue of Rs. 88 billion, marking a 40% increase compared to the year before.The revenue streams comprised Rs. 47 billion from ticket sales, Rs. 28 billion from freight services, and Rs. 13 billion from leasing railway land and other avenues.
PR CEO Amir Ali Baloch recently credited this success to enhancements in service, highlighting that the Eid special trains experienced full bookings and bolstered public confidence in Pakistan Railways’ services.
