Islamabad, Oct 3: Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday.
The leaders engaged in constructive discussions in a friendly atmosphere, covering various bilateral, regional, and international matters of shared concern, particularly those affecting the Muslim community.
They examined ways to enhance bilateral cooperation to achieve tangible results. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Anwar Ibrahim on Malaysia’s forthcoming Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025.
Anwar expressed his support for Pakistan’s continued participation in ASEAN as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner and emphasized the importance of further collaboration between Pakistan and ASEAN, recognizing Pakistan’s significant role within the organization.
Both leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening their mutually beneficial partnership and underscored the necessity of ongoing dialogue and exchanges at all levels.
They pointed out the importance of the Joint Ministerial Commission, Bilateral Consultations, and other mechanisms for enhancing engagement.
Upon his arrival at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who greeted him at the entrance.
The national anthems of both nations were played, and the Malaysian Prime Minister inspected a guard of honor provided by a contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif introduced Anwar Ibrahim to his cabinet members, while Anwar presented members of his delegation. As part of the visit, the Malaysian Prime Minister also planted a sapling at the Prime Minister House.
