Islamabad, March 14, 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed domestic contracts for 90 women cricketers for the 2024-25 season, marking a significant step in promoting women’s cricket in the country.

The contracts, which will run from July 2024 to June 2025, include players across different categories, ensuring financial support and development opportunities.

Among the contracted players, 18 are from Pakistan’s U-19 squad, benefiting from monthly retainers to help them build on their experience from the ACC Women’s U19 Asia Cup 2024-25 and the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup 2025.

Additionally, 62 players have been selected in the emerging category, while 10 are Pakistan-capped cricketers.

The Women’s National Selection Committee, featuring former Test cricketer Asad Shafiq and former Pakistan women’s international Batool Fatima, played a key role in finalizing the list.

Players were selected based on their performances in domestic competitions and their potential for future growth.

Meanwhile, the PCB is also reviewing its recent decision to reduce match fees for players and reserves in the National T20 Cup.

After facing widespread criticism, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reportedly instructed officials to reverse the fee cuts and restore payments to their previous levels.

Initially, the board had reduced match fees by 75%, lowering them to PKR 10,000 (approximately USD 35) per match for players and PKR 5,000 for reserves.

The move was met with backlash, with many questioning whether financial difficulties had led to the decision.

PCB officials, however, clarified that the reduction was due to an increased number of domestic tournaments this season, which they argued would provide players with more opportunities to earn.
