Lahore’s National Cricket Academy, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the pivotal role of high-quality domestic cricket in bolstering Pakistan’s competitiveness on the international stage.

Key officials including PCB COO Salman Naseer, CFO Javed Murtaza, Selection Committee Analyst Bilal Afzal, and Directors of International Cricket Usman Wahla were present during the three-hour meeting.

Naqvi underscored the commitment to prioritize quality domestic cricket at all levels, ensuring the consistent organization of tournaments from grassroots clubs to the national level.

He highlighted the involvement of top coaches who will mentor emerging talents, aiming to enhance their skills with a strong emphasis on performance, fitness, and merit-based advancement.

The chairman stressed that elevating domestic cricket standards is crucial for bridging the gap with international cricket. Plans were outlined to establish regular tournaments across local clubs and national levels, with elite coaches appointed to raise coaching standards. Naqvi reiterated that selection for the national team will be rigorous, strictly adhering to fitness and merit criteria without exceptions.

He emphasized the need to swiftly integrate new talent onto the global stage, asserting that investing in emerging players will rejuvenate grassroots cricket and yield positive outcomes for Pakistan cricket.

The meeting also involved an examination of domestic cricket frameworks from cricketing nations like India, New Zealand, Australia, and England, to glean insights for further enhancement of Pakistan’s cricketing structure.
