Islamabad, Oct 29: PCB Shortlists Pakistan’s Next Coach High-Profile Candidates Considered for Key Role
After Gary Kirsten resigned after only a few months on the job, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is allegedly nearing the appointment of a new white ball coach for the national side.
When verifying that the next appointment with their international counterparts won’t work out for Pakistan cricket, PCB is said to have retreated its position on foreign coaches and will instead focus more inward. Two candidates have been shortlisted to be the next coach: Saqlain Mushtaq and Aaqib Javed.
Because of his familiarity with the national team, the off spinner now leads the race. According to reports, he has the support of new captain Mohammad Rizwan and has also worked at the PCB’s High-Performance Center for International Player Development.
Meanwhile, Aaqib is having a great time at PCB after assisting Pakistan in winning its first home test series in more than three years. He currently serves on the selection committee and wants to add another title to his portfolio in order to strengthen his control over the group. Having led Lahore Qalandars to two championship victories, he too has a strong resume.
Following a meeting with important stakeholders, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is anticipated to make the announcement shortly.
