Islamabad, Nov 12: PM to Attend COP29 Inaugural Plenary and Hold Meetings with World Leaders Today. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to participate in the opening session of the “World Leaders’ Climate Action Summit” at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), taking place here today.

Joined by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi, the prime minister arrived in the Azerbaijani capital for the summit and a series of high-level events and roundtable discussions organized by Pakistan.

Today, he will preside over a Climate Round Table Conference arranged by Pakistan, which will see the attendance of global leaders. During this gathering, the prime minister will address the difficulties encountered by developing nations, which contribute minimally to carbon emissions.

Additionally, the prime minister will take part in the high-level event “Glaciers 2025: Action for Glaciers,” hosted by Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon. On his agenda for today are individual meetings with the prime ministers of Denmark and the Czech Republic, where he will discuss not only bilateral relations but also the threats posed by climate change to Pakistan.
