Islamabad, Oct 4: PMD Forecasts Rainfall in Upper Pakistan from October 5-8, Cooling Northern Regions. Following many days of intense heat and dry weather throughout the nation, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain, wind, and thunderstorms for the country’s upper regions.

Based on the synoptic conditions, a westerly wave was expected to move toward the country’s upper regions on October 5.This weather system is expected to cause rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with isolated hailstorms, in the following locations: Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Faisalabad between October 5 and October 8 with sporadic breaks.

While from October 06–08, with sporadic breaks, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are predicted in Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, and Bhakkar.From October 5 to October 8, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is likely to see rain, wind, and thunderstorms, along with sporadic heavy precipitation or hailstorms in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, and Nowshera.

However, from October 5 to October 7, with sporadic breaks, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are predicted in Mardan, Kurram, Orakzai, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan.From October 5 to October 8, there is a chance of rain, wind, and thunderstorm in Kashmir, along with isolated instances of moderate to heavy rainfall and hailstorm in Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur.

From October 5 to October 8, rain, wind, and thunderstorms with a few heavy downpours are predicted in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche, and Shigar.In Balochistan, on October 6 and 7, rain, wind, and thunderstorm are predicted in Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Lasbella, Panjgur, and Awaran.

In Sindh, most areas of the province should see hot, dry weather.In reference to potential effects, the PMD stated that during the forecast period, moderate to heavy rains may cause local nullahs or streams in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Dir, Swat, Mala Kand, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, and Khyber to flow more freely.

During the forecast period, landslides may cause road disruptions in the vulnerable areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, higher Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and higher Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.During the forecast period, weak structures like the roofs and walls of Kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, cars, solar panels, etc., may be affected by or damaged by windstorms and lightning.

It is recommended that farmers plan their operations with the weather forecast in mind. Tourists and travelers are urged to exercise additional caution, plan their trips based on the weather, and stay out of any dangerous situations during the rainy season. It is recommended that the relevant authorities stay vigilant and take appropriate action to prevent any unfortunate incident.
