Islamabad, Sep 26: The Department of Higher Education has initiated a project to transform all 85 commerce colleges in Punjab into IT colleges. This decision was prompted by a notable decline in student interest in commerce, with enrollments falling below 100 students per college.

  • The government is currently investing Rs 300,000 per commerce student, leading to the strategic shift toward IT education.
  • The aim is to make education more relevant and equip students with skills aligned with the increasing global demand in the IT sector.
