The Punjab government announced an ambitious budget for the fiscal year 2024–25, announcing a major push to give free solar systems to the province’s low-electricity consumers. The goal of this action is to lessen households’ financial burden from excessive electricity bills.
The “Roshan Gharana Program” program is emphasized in the budget document as a vital step in aiding domestic users. In the first phase, the programme, which has a budget of Rs 9.5 billion, would provide free full solar systems to households using up to 100 units of power. All related costs will be paid for by the Punjab government, guaranteeing that these customers receive lower electricity bills and environmentally friendly energy options.
The budget also details the “Chief Minister’s Solarization of Agriculture Tube Wells Program,” which has been allotted Rs 9 billion, in addition to the Roshan Gharana Program. With the goal of converting 7,000 agricultural tube wells to solar electricity, this project will significantly boost the agricultural industry and encourage the use of renewable energy sources.
The Punjab Assembly was presented with the fiscal year 2024–25 budget today. It outlines a total budget volume of Rs 5,446 billion with an expected total income of Rs 4,643.4 billion. In his budget statement, the Finance Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to development and proposed spending Rs 842 billion on it. This contains 77 brand-new megaprojects that will propel the province’s development and growth by being included in the yearly development plan.
