Islamabad, JULY29: A new waste tax that will be imposed on all residential and commercial buildings in the state has been authorized by the Punjab administration.
According to specifics, the new policy states that this tax will apply to individuals, corporations, and even people living in informal settlements (kachi abadis). The monthly waste tax in rural areas will look like this:
Five marla house owners will pay Rs. 200.
Households with between 10 marla and 1 kanal will have to pay 400 rupees.
New fees will also apply to rural businesses:
Small stores will pay a monthly fee of Rs. 300.
The monthly tax for medium-sized firms will be Rs. 700.
Large businesses would also be subject to a Rs. 700 waste fee, including factories, workshops, and gas stations.
The rates of the waste levy will be greater in metropolitan areas:
The monthly payment for residents of 5 marla dwellings will be Rs. 300.
There will be a 500 rupee tax on owners of 10 marla homes.
One kanal to ten marla houses will pay a levy of Rs. 2,000.
The monthly tax on larger homes will be Rs. 5,000.
The following taxes will apply to urban businesses:
The monthly payment for small business shops is Rs. 500.
The monthly tax for medium-sized firms will be Rs. 1,000.
Large enterprises, workshops, and factories would pay an additional Rs. 3,000.
With the help of this new garbage tax, Punjab’s waste management services should be improved, leading to cleaner and healthier communities.
