Islamabad, Feb 16: The Punjab government has launched multiple high-impact agriculture projects under the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI), marking a significant step toward modernizing the province’s farming sector. The newly inaugurated Green Agri Mall & Service Company, Smart Agri Farm, and Agri Research and Facilitation Centre in Cholistan’s Kandai and Chapu aim to boost productivity, sustainability, and innovation in agriculture.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, along with federal and provincial ministers, underscoring the initiative’s national importance.

Key Projects and Their Impact
Green Agri Mall & Service Company – This facility will provide farmers with high-quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and fuel at controlled rates. It will also offer rental farming equipment, including drones, to promote mechanized agriculture at an affordable cost.
Smart Agri Farm – Spread over 5,000 acres, this farm will serve as a model for modern farming, integrating high-efficiency irrigation systems to maximize crop yields and conserve water.
Agri Research and Facilitation Centre – This center will provide laboratory services, technical support, and research collaborations with academic institutions to drive innovation in farming practices.

Addressing the gathering, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and lauded the initiative for introducing best practices and technology-driven solutions to the sector.
General Asim Munir praised Punjab’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s agricultural development, acknowledging the rapid progress under the Green Corporate Initiative.
