Islamabad, Sep 18: The “Chief Minister Children Heart Surgery Programme,” popularly known as “Maryam Ki Masihaai,” children with heart ailments will now receive free care and procedures. Over 5,000 youngsters will receive medical attention as a result of this effort each year.
The initiative was formally launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who also gave recipients “Child Surgery Cards.” Private hospitals will be used to schedule surgery if public hospitals are unable to accept patients.
Six public and carefully chosen private institutions, including the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and Children’s Hospital in Lahore, as well as hospitals in Multan, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi, will offer heart surgery services during the initial phase.
The program will include hospitals in Wazirabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Sargodha in its second phase. Additionally, an online dashboard for the Children’s Heart Surgery Program will be introduced.
The Chief Minister expressed her happiness at the program’s debut and added that she felt more like a mother than a leader since she understood the suffering of parents who lose a child. She underlined that the goal of these cutting-edge cardiac surgery centers is to truly lessen the pain of kids and their families.
Children from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other areas will also benefit from the initiative. During the meeting, it was brought to light that around 5,000 infants had previously died annually as a result of delayed heart procedures.
