ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 16: Before making any real estate purchases, the public is urged by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to confirm the condition of housing societies.
In order to get proper information on the legality of housing societies, Director General Kinza Murtaza recommended prospective investors to visit the official website, www.rda.gop.pk or use the resources available at the RDA office. She emphasized that, as of right now, 359 housing plans in Rawalpindi have been found to be unlawful, while 71 housing schemes have been authorized and 74 are for evaluation.
“We are dedicated to raising public awareness, and the status of housing schemes is regularly updated on the RDA website,” Murtaza said.
The RDA is mandated to take legal action against unlawful developments and has been aggressively monitoring and regulating existing housing schemes. 560 schemes have received legal notices from the authorities thus far, while 218 societies have been charged and have had their cases forwarded to the magistrate’s court. 221 First Information Reports (FIRs) have also been filed against rule breakers. The RDA has implemented strict steps to ensure compliance, such as shutting the offices of 184 schemes and tearing down 200 societies’ main gates, offices, and unlawful buildings.
The RDA has also requested support from the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in order to combat illicit bookings, ads, and promotional efforts pertaining to unlicensed housing plans.
Strict adherence to the Punjab Development Authority’s Private Housing Scheme Rules 2021 is being maintained, and the RDA is working hard to prosecute rule breakers. Murtaza said, “Every effort is being made to ensure compliance with the law.”
