Islamabad, Nov 4: RDA Bans New Housing Schemes in 5 Tehsils to Preserve Agricultural Land. The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has declared a prohibition on new private housing plans in five tehsils: Rawalpindi, Gujarkhan, Taxila, Kallar Syedan, and Kahuta. This is a clear step toward sustainable development. This policy seeks to promote appropriate urban development, safeguard environmentally sensitive areas, and maintain agricultural land.
The RDA’s prohibition on developers and investors buying land for housing developments within the selected tehsils will be in place until the Pre-Urban Site Development Plan is formally approved. Additionally, the prohibition prohibits land subdivision for private dwelling developments without previous RDA approval.
The next Pre-Urban Site Development Plan will define green spaces, residential areas, agricultural zones, and environmentally sensitive areas, according to RDA sources. The strategy is in line with the authority’s dedication to sustainable development, which strikes a balance between the preservation of natural resources and urban growth.
The RDA has threatened severe penalties for violators, including heavy fines, legal action, and the demolition of unapproved buildings, in order to implement the ban. The goal of this aggressive enforcement is to keep development requirements and environmental protection in check.
An RDA official said, “The ban is a step toward promoting eco-friendly urban growth that respects the region’s natural resources.” “The environment and the long-term viability of urban areas depend on the protection of agricultural land and green spaces.”
Additionally, by encouraging builders to integrate eco-friendly elements into residential constructions, the decision demonstrates the RDA’s dedication to promoting green development. The RDA will more effectively advise developers on where future housing projects can be built responsibly once the Pre-Urban Site Development Plan is in place, guaranteeing that growth in the Rawalpindi region stays sustainable and takes agricultural and environmental concerns into account.
