Islamabad, Nov 5: Role of Business Leaders Essential for Achieving Sustainable Development, Says Romina. According to Romina Khurshid Alam, Prime Minister’s Climate Change Coordinator, the current administration is dedicated to strengthening cooperation with different stakeholders, including nations and non-governmental organizations, in order to accomplish sustainable development objectives.

Engaging with development partners and nations with strong technical know-how, technology, and expertise in implementing the UN’s sustainable development goals is the current government’s top priority, she stressed during her meeting on Tuesday with a high-profile six-member delegation from Yuanhe Holdings and the Green and Low-Carbon Committee of the Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation (SIEF). The goals include poverty reduction, environmental sustainability, climate resilience, gender empowerment, and other socio-economic development-related objectives.

At the climate change and environmental coordination ministry, the SIEF delegation, headed by Dr. Ma Chengliang, senior adviser of the Green and Low-carbon Committee, met with PM Romina Khurshid Alam, who is the climate aide.

In areas including the environment, climate change, disaster risk reduction, poverty reduction, and gender development, both parties pledged to work together to achieve sustainable development in Pakistan.

Through significant events like the Sino-European Entrepreneurs Summit and the Sino-Australasian Entrepreneurs Summit, SIEF, a global nonprofit, nonpartisan organization with its headquarters in Beijing, links leading business leaders from China, Europe, Australasia, Arab, and Africa from various industries, continents, and cultures.

In order to achieve the shared objectives of environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and socioeconomic development, the Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif-led government firmly believes in cooperation with different governments, the private sector, civil society organizations, academia, and development partners through joint multi-stakeholder engagement, according to the PM’s climate aide.

“To address the interconnected challenges facing our world, such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and the depletion of natural resources, collaboration at any level and in any form is essential for sustainable development,” she said. It entails collaborating across disciplines, sectors, and borders to develop long-term solutions that are sustainable on all fronts socially, economically, and environmentally.

In order to address complicated global issues like inequality, health, and climate change, “effective collaboration can significantly help leverage resources, knowledge, and expertise,” she continued.The PM’s climate aide went on to emphasize the unparalleled importance of inclusive development through partnerships, adding that inclusion is essential to attaining sustainable development.

According to Romina Khurshid Alam, utilizing innovation and ethnology is essential to accomplishing sustainable development objectives. Because innovation and technology are essential to addressing the issues of climate change and environmental sustainability.

Innovation may boost productivity and open up new avenues, from data-driven decision-making tools to renewable energy solutions. The development and implementation of sustainable technology can be accelerated by cooperation between the government, research institutes, and the tech industry, said a PM climate aide.

Dr. Ma Chengliang, the head of the SIEF mission, praised the current government’s aim for a climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable Pakistan as well as the steps put in place to realize it. Businesses’ perceptions of their social responsibilities are changing as a result of the growing business case for sustainability.
