Islamabad, Dec 20: Russia has developed its own mRNA cancer vaccine, which will be provided free of charge to patients, according to Andrey Kaprin, General Director of the Radiology Medical Research Center under the Russian Ministry of Health.

The Russian news agency TASS reported the announcement, which Andrey Kaprin made in an interview with Radio Rossiya.

Pre-clinical trials of the vaccine demonstrated its effectiveness in suppressing tumor growth and reducing metastasis. The incorporation of artificial intelligence has enabled the rapid customization of the vaccine in just one hour, significantly speeding up what is typically a lengthy process.

The vaccine aims to strengthen the immune system, enabling it to identify and eliminate cancer cells more effectively.

Alexander Gintsburg, Director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, informed TASS that the vaccine is planned for general distribution by early 2025.

. He emphasized its success in pre-clinical trials in inhibiting tumor development and minimizing metastasis.

The vaccine is a collaborative effort involving multiple research centers.

Therapeutic cancer vaccines work by training the immune system to recognize and attack tumor-specific proteins or antigens. Some vaccines utilize modified or weakened viruses to deliver these antigens, eliciting a robust immune response. Preventive vaccines, like the HPV vaccine, protect against virus-linked cancers, such as cervical cancer, by reducing the risk of developing such diseases.

These vaccines strengthen the body’s natural defenses, slow tumor progression, prevent recurrence, and eliminate early-stage cancers.
