Islamabad, Oct 15: SAIC Unveils MG ES5 EV With Over 500 KM Range. The MG ES5, a compact SUV that runs entirely on electricity, has been formally introduced by SAIC Motors. There are three range options available for this family-friendly SUV: 425 km, 515 km, and 525 km.

The SUV, formerly known as the “S5”, has been renamed the “ES5” and is anticipated to retail in China for between 100,000 and 150,000 yuan (between Rs. 3.9 million and Rs. 5.85 million). Since a test version was spotted in Europe in August, plans are in place to export it and offer it on the market later this year.

The SAIC Unveils MG ES5 EV  has a five-link rear suspension system and is constructed on SAIC’s Nebula pure-electric platform. It had a wheelbase of 2730 mm with dimensions of 4476 mm in length, 1849 mm in width, and 1621 mm in height. Depending on the size of the battery, there are two curb weight options: 1685 kg and 1740 kg. Furthermore, it is stated that the vehicle’s maximum useable size is 4.24 square meters.

With a split grille on the lower side, short, sharp headlights, and a closed-off front fascia, the front has a sleek, contemporary appearance. Other external features include Y-shaped tail lights, silver roof racks, blacked side mirrors, and standard door handles.

There are two rim sizes available for the ES5: 17 and 18 inches. A rear electric motor that generates 125 kW (168 horsepower) and 250 Nm of torque powers the  MG ES5 EV. It has a top speed of 170 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8 seconds.

The CATL-SAIC joint venture provides the lithium iron phosphate battery packs, which come in capacities of 49.1 kWh and 62.2 kWh. Since the CLTC range frequently overstates the actual range, the vehicle’s CLTC driving ranges of 425, 515, and 525 km correspond to 400, 485, and 500 km. Interestingly, the 110 mm thick battery pack is said to be the thinnest in the world.

The inside of the cockpit includes a flat-bottom steering wheel, an instrument panel, and a contemporary central control screen arrangement. Although the screen’s exact proportions are yet unknown, the central console features two cupholders, wireless phone charging, and a hollow construction for additional storage.

In addition to having two cupholders and wireless phone charging capabilities, the center console features a hollow design for additional storage. Additionally, the car has a panoramic sunroof, which increases the feeling of interior space.

The MG ES5 is poised to have a big influence on the electric SUV industry because to its unique combination of contemporary design, performance, and technology.
