Islamabad, Mar 10, 2025: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched an advanced ‘Service Desk System,’ a comprehensive complaint resolution platform designed to handle concerns from Regulated Entities (REs) related to SBP-managed portals, including the Regulatory Approval System (RAS).

To strengthen security measures across SBP-hosted portals such as RAS and the Service Desk, the central bank has announced a shift from traditional web-based access to a Virtual Private Network (VPN)-based system, set to take effect on May 30, 2025.

This transition aims to enhance cybersecurity and streamline access control mechanisms for financial institutions.

Under this new framework, financial organizations must obtain Multifactor Authentication (MFA) licenses to gain access to SBP-hosted portals via VPN.

In light of this requirement, Regulated Entities (REs) are urged to secure the necessary MFA accounts promptly, ensuring a smooth transition to the upgraded VPN-based system within the stipulated timeline.

Additionally, the SBP has fully digitized the process of receiving applications and proposals from Regulated Entities while also ensuring swift dissemination of regulatory approvals through the Regulatory Approval System (RAS).

This digital transformation enhances operational efficiency, reduces manual interventions, and improves transparency in regulatory communications.

By implementing these advanced security protocols and streamlining regulatory procedures, the SBP aims to fortify digital governance and provide a seamless user experience for financial institutions engaging with its platforms.
