Islamabad, Oct 12: SHC Requests Detailed Report on Road Projects Awarded by KMC and Other Authorities. Road Projects Awarded by The Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) and other parties have received notices from the Sindh High Court in response to complaints expressed by contractors about the lack of openness in the awarding of road contracts.
According to specifics, the court’s decision was prompted by the discovery that 41 road reconstruction schemes that were authorized in August 2023 as a result of severe rainstorm damage had not gone through the necessary public notification procedure. Contracts were purportedly given straight to chosen corporations instead.
The petitioner’s attorney claimed at the hearing that fair competition was impaired by the lack of public notices. There could be legal ramifications, as the court asked how the petitioner received the pertinent government records.
The attorney promised the court that he would talk to the petitioner about this. KMC and the other parties concerned have been ordered by the court to respond in ten days. A thorough report on KMC’s development projects has also been demanded by the court.
In a related case, parking on Shaarah Iraq has been forbidden by a division bench made up of Justices Salahuddin Panhwar and Amjad Ali Sahito. Lawyers Barrister Ata Hussain and Advocate Munir Ahmed Malik complained about parking mafias encroaching on their property, making it impossible for them to access the Sindh High Court. This led to the decision being made.
Justice Salahuddin emphasized the necessity for unobstructed access to court facilities by emphasizing that no VIP cars should be parked in front of the High Court.Additionally, the KMC, SSP Traffic, and DIG Traffic have all received notices about the imposition of this parking prohibition.
