Islamabad, Dec 26: On Monday, parts of Galiyat, including Thandiyani, Nathiagali, and Changlagali, received snowfall, while Abbottabad city and its surrounding areas experienced rainfall. According to the local Meteorological Office, snowfall ranged from six inches to one foot in various locations of Galiyat, leading to a significant drop in temperatures in Abbottabad, where the mercury fell below the freezing point. As a result, residents were seen wearing warm clothing to combat the cold.
The long-awaited rainfall and snowfall were welcomed by the locals, with medics noting that the rain could help alleviate the increasing cases of cough and flu, which had been exacerbated by the prolonged dry spell.
In response to the snowfall, Rescue 1122 personnel were deployed at various spots to assist stranded tourists, while staff from the Galiyat Development Authority worked tirelessly to clear snow from roads. Authorities also issued safety advisories, urging tourists not to travel after sunset and to contact the traffic police before planning their visit to the region. The combined efforts aimed to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors amid the seasonal weather conditions.
