Islamabad, Apr 5, 2025: The Swedish Migration Agency has announced that, effective April 9, it will begin processing residence and work permit applications in Pakistan once again.

This means that applicants who need to provide biometric information, validate their passports, or attend interviews can now do so at the Swedish Embassy in Islamabad.

This update applies to those seeking to move to Sweden for employment, education, or to reunite with family members.

Pakistani nationals and legal residents of Pakistan, who had previously been asked by the Swedish Migration Agency to complete these steps, can now visit the Islamabad embassy rather than traveling to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, a requirement that has now been removed.

However, this change does not impact individuals applying for short-term Schengen visas to visit Sweden.

Those seeking a visa for stays of up to 90 days must continue submitting their applications to VFS Global offices in cities like Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta, or Kuala Lumpur.

These applications are then sent to the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok for further processing.
