Islamabad, 15 April 2025: Usman Tariq has been reported for a suspect bowling action during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match against Lahore Qalandars.
The report was submitted by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown, who raised concerns following the conclusion of the match.
PCB confirmed the report and noted that while his action has been questioned, he remains eligible to bowl in future PSL fixtures unless his action is reported a second time.
If that occurs, he will face an automatic suspension from bowling in any further matches until he is cleared by the ICC accredited Biomechanics Laboratory.

The PCB stated that this process is part of the standard operating procedure when concerns are raised about a bowler’s action.
Under ICC rules, bowlers must comply with specific biomechanical standards, which permit no more than 15 degrees of elbow extension during delivery.
Exceeding this threshold may classify an action as illegal.
At this stage, the PCB has not imposed any immediate restrictions on the player, giving him the chance to make technical adjustments if needed while continuing to compete.

This approach is intended to strike a balance between regulatory enforcement and giving players a fair opportunity to rectify any issues.
The management of Quetta Gladiators has not yet commented on the matter, nor have they disclosed whether any remedial coaching or assessment will be undertaken for Tariq.
Reports of suspect bowling actions are not uncommon in top-level cricket, and players often work closely with coaches and analysts to modify their techniques if necessary.
Usman Tariq’s case will be monitored closely in the coming matches, as any further scrutiny could impact both his season and the team’s bowling resources moving forward.
