Islamabad, Jan 28: Wave Tech has revealed plans to establish Pakistan’s first-ever lithium battery manufacturing plant at the Malir Industrial Park (MIP) in Karachi, with a significant Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of $200 million. The state-of-the-art facility is scheduled to begin construction in December 2025, with production expected to start by mid-2026.
This pioneering initiative marks a major step toward modernizing Pakistan’s energy infrastructure. The plant aims to phase out traditional oxide batteries in favor of more efficient and sustainable lithium-based alternatives, helping the country transition to modern energy solutions.

The Malir Industrial Park (MIP), part of the Pakistan Economic Zones Development and Management Company (PEZDMC), is a key project focused on promoting industrial growth in Karachi. Its prime location offers convenient access to essential infrastructure such as Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and major highways, making it an ideal hub for industrial activities and investment.
