Islamabad, Feb 11: Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has predicted that the Ramadan crescent is likely to be sighted on the evening of March 1, 2025. According to officials, the new moon will be born on February 28 at 5:45 PM, making its visibility highly probable the next day. If the crescent is spotted, the first fast of Ramadan will be observed on Sunday, March 2.
As the ninth and holiest month of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan holds deep religious significance for Muslims across the globe. It is a time of fasting, prayer, and self-reflection, emphasizing spiritual purification and devotion. During this month, believers refrain from eating, drinking, and other physical indulgences from dawn until sunset, strengthening their faith and discipline.
In Pakistan, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with regional moon sighting bodies, will convene to confirm the sighting. If the crescent is not observed, Ramadan will begin a day later. The exact date of fasting often varies from country to country due to different moon sighting methods and time zones.
