Islamabad, Apr 25, 2025: Lahore is set to experience significant traffic disruptions beginning today (Friday), as the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab has declared a large-scale protest across the city.
The YDA, in coordination with the Grand Health Alliance (GHA), has outlined its plan to carry out sit-ins on major roads to pressure the Punjab government into reversing its decision to privatize public healthcare facilities in the province.
Dr. Shaib Niazi, President of YDA Punjab, stated that the protestors will begin blocking key routes at 11 am, targeting the following high-traffic areas:
-
Jail Road
-
Ferozepur Road
-
The road leading to Mayo Hospital
-
Roads near Shaikh Zayed Hospital
-
The route to Jinnah Hospital
-
Roads leading to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital
Dr. Niazi confirmed that the protestors will be blocking these roads entirely, resulting in severe traffic congestion and disrupting the flow of vehicles throughout the city.

He expressed discontent over the government’s dismissal of 18 days of earlier protests and mentioned that the road closures are part of the YDA’s “Plan B.” He further warned that any police force used against the protestors would lead to a complete shutdown of government hospitals in Punjab, halting all medical services.
