Islamabad, Sep 13: Afghanistan vs New Zealand Test Abandoned Due to Rain.

After five straight days of washout, the ICC Test Championship match was canceled, making it just the eighth ever in the history of Test cricket.

There were major delays to the contest from the beginning. Despite minimal rain, ground crew struggled to dry the field, therefore the toss was postponed the first two days.

Due to inadequate drainage and drying facilities at the location, the grounds team had to use crude techniques including covering the surface with canvas and deploying electric fans on damp areas.

There was a lot of criticism, particularly from the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), who expressed dissatisfaction with the inadequate management of the stadium.

Concerned about the subpar infrastructure, ACB executives first decided not to book any further games at the stadium.

After all, Afghanistan has called the Noida stadium home since 2016, but the board later changed its mind, citing the long-standing partnership with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The match was finally called off due to persistent rain on the third, fourth, and fifth days, disappointing both teams and underscoring the need for improved facilities at international cricket grounds.
