Islamabad, 23 April 2025: Hopes of witnessing a high-profile meeting between javelin stars Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra on Indian soil have been dashed.
The Pakistani athlete declined a personal invitation to compete in an upcoming javelin event in Bengaluru.
India’s Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra had extended the invitation with the aim of creating a landmark competition featuring top talent from across the region.
The event was planned not only as a contest of skill but also as a celebration of sporting unity.
However, Arshad Nadeem’s camp confirmed that his schedule for the current season had already been finalised before the offer was received.

His team emphasised that the decision was purely strategic, focusing on training and recovery cycles ahead of a packed international calendar.
