ISLAMABAD, JULY15: As part of its PKR 91.73 billion budget for the fiscal year 2024–25, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved the development of smart housing flats in Sector E-11 and an orchard for Pakistanis living abroad on 1,487 kanals of land, according to a report published on July 15.

The CDA Board made history at its eighth meeting, which was presided over by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, when it decided not to rely on land auctions as a source of funding. The board authorized a PKR 91.73 billion revenue target and a PKR 91.58 billion estimated expenditure, leaving PKR 145 million in excess. The budget also mandates that homes, farms, and other buildings install rainwater collection systems. as well as apartments and business spaces bigger than four kanals. For a year, the CDA will help with the installation; after that, they will take legal action against anyone who doesn’t comply.

The employment of specialists to handle traffic concerns at significant crossroads including Jinnah Avenue/9th Avenue and Serena Chowk Highway/Sherwan Road was approved in addition. Before paying contractors, third-party consultants will check all work to guarantee high-quality work on ongoing projects. Chairman of the CDA Randhawa underlined that even in cases where consultants could not be verified, they would still be held responsible for any quality issues.

Additionally, the board approved a health insurance plan for CDA workers, enabling them to get care at the city’s private hospitals as well as CDA Hospital. It was also decided to implement the Efficiency and Discipline Rules 2020, which mandate that inquiry officers finish their work within a month and that those who don’t would face consequences.
