Lahore: According to a news source on July 11, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz has announced a plan to give 1,224 free flats for workers in the Taxila and Sundar labor camps.
In a high-level meeting, important choices were made in accordance with the details to improve the welfare of workers. These included in-depth analyses of the Labour Department’s operations and comprehensive briefings on a range of initiatives, including worker scholarships, labor colonies, and healthcare programs.
CM Maryam emphasized that over 29,000 workers will receive PKR 6 billion in late death and marriage benefits. Additionally, permission was given to build two dormitories in Garment City for female workers, which will house 704 women from Sheikhupura.
CM Maryam reaffirmed Punjab’s government’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights and guaranteeing their security and well-being. She emphasized that the government bears the obligation of safeguarding all workers and declared that the minimum wage of PKR 37,000 will be enforced with the help of all stakeholders.
