Islamabad, Aug 24: Export Processing Zones (EPZs) have been designated in Sindh and Punjab to supply the required infrastructure and make them immediately available for projects in joint ventures, according to a statement made by Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan on Friday. During his visit to the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) main office here, he made this statement while speaking with members of the business community and the media.
He claimed that he, along with other ministers, officials, and representatives of the private sector, had visited all of the country’s EPZs and assessed the land and other facilities available in order to guarantee immediate land availability and other utility services for the industries interested in starting joint venture projects right away.
He stated that the government is taking significant action in this area and that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had convened multiple meetings at various platforms over the past four months to facilitate commerce and exports. The minister also mentioned that discussions were held with representatives of chambers of commerce, the business community, and other interested parties.
According to him, the government has implemented several efforts aimed at facilitating the business community. However, it’s possible that the community is not aware of these encouraging developments, so it’s important to inform the business community about them.Regarding his visit to the FPCCI headquarters, Jam Kamal Khan stated that his goal was to engage in thorough conversation with the business sector.
He stated that as the Ministry of Commerce represents the community, the business community should not consider itself to be apart from it. According to Jam Kamal Khan, the Commerce Ministry will actively contribute to the business community’s facilitation through doable actions. Our success will come from bringing the business community’s concerns to the relevant venues and coming to a consensus on a solution, he continued.
He stated that efforts are being made to enhance the general situation because it is currently essential for the business community and fellow citizens. According to him, trade and economic partnerships serve as the foundation for current international policy development as well as the development of links between nations.
He claimed that it was a wonderful idea that LUMS and IBA were used for the tests that were used to hire Trade and Investment Officers (TIOs) at Pakistan’s Trade Mission Abroad. According to him, a portal has been created where TIOs can publish their progress on the dashboard, have their performances assessed, and have audits and marking sessions based on those results. “To facilitate our traders’ ability to display their products, we are also working to establish display centers in six to eight countries, including Saudi Arabia and China,” stated Jam Kamal Khan.
He claimed that although the rest of the world was moving toward making business easier, we were also taking steps to ensure that our business community’s needs were met. According to him, the business community should be thanked for providing the government with unwavering support during the difficult times. The prime minister showed great interest in our efforts to foster an environment that will support the expansion of businesses and industries. Urea, wheat, and sugar are the three main crops, according to Jam Kamal Khan, and we’re attempting to go toward value addition. Zubair Motiwala, the CEO of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, and other speakers have already spoken.
