Islamabad: Babar Azam and Hussain Talat starred with the bat as Peshawar Zalmi defeated Lahore Qalandars by seven wickets in a thrilling Pakistan Super League (PSL) encounter.

Babar played a solid innings, scoring 56 off 42 balls, while Talat finished with an impressive 51 from 37 balls, guiding Peshawar past their target of 130 in just the 17th over.

Lahore had a disastrous start after being asked to bat first. They collapsed to 34-5 within the powerplay and were reduced to 67-7 shortly after.

Alzarri Joseph was the standout bowler for Peshawar, claiming 3 wickets for just 15 runs, while England’s Luke Wood supported well with 2 wickets for 25 runs.

Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza was the only Lahore batsman to make a significant impact, scoring 52 off 37 balls before being dismissed by Talat in the final over. Lahore were all out for 129, with just one other batter managing to reach double figures.

Peshawar’s chase faltered early, with them being reduced to 7-2 in the second over.

However, Babar and Talat combined for an unbroken 93-run partnership for the fourth wicket to guide Peshawar to victory.

Talat, who hit consecutive boundaries to seal the win, reached his half-century in the process.

This victory sees Peshawar and Lahore both tied with two wins and three losses each, although Lahore remains in third place due to a superior net run rate.

Mohammad Hussain Talat: A Rising All-Round Talent

Mohammad Hussain Talat, a left-handed batsman from Lahore, has impressed with his domestic performances, establishing himself as a talented all-rounder.

His early List A career was marked by stunning performances, with 272 runs in his first four matches at an average of 90.66, including a high score of 141.

At just 16 years old, Talat was offered a contract by Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) in the Ramadan T20 Cup, Karachi.

Talat’s domestic career flourished further with impressive scores in the President’s Cup, including 67, 52, and a brilliant 141.

These performances helped him earn a place in the Pakistan U-19 team for the 2013-14 season.

Apart from his batting, Talat bowls military-medium pace, adding value as a potential all-rounder for Pakistan.

While his batting has been the highlight of his career so far, Talat has been refining his bowling skills, particularly in red-ball cricket, where he has contributed with both bat and ball.

In shorter formats, he typically plays as a batsman with occasional bowling contributions.
