Islamabad, Jan 26: Lahore has taken a significant step towards safer and more organized traffic by introducing dedicated lanes for cyclists and motorcyclists. This initiative aims to reduce accidents and streamline traffic flow across the city. The project, which follows global urban infrastructure practices, is expected to improve commuting conditions for two-wheeler riders.
The first phase of the project focuses on a 10-kilometer bike lane along Ferozepur Road, stretching from Canal Road to Lahore Bridge.
These lanes, marked with a bright green color for better visibility, are designed to ensure the safety of cyclists and motorcyclists while promoting disciplined road usage.
The project will eventually expand to cover all major roads in Lahore, making the city more commuter-friendly.

The Punjab Chief Minister has emphasized the importance of maintaining high construction standards to ensure the project’s long-term success. Officials believe that dedicated lanes will significantly lower the risk of accidents while promoting smoother traffic movement across the city.
Meanwhile, Punjab’s motorways recently faced closures due to severe fog, which reduced visibility and posed serious safety risks. Key sections of the M2, M11, and M5 motorways, including stretches between Lahore, Sialkot, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rohri, were temporarily shut down. Motorway police have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy conditions and to strictly follow safety guidelines when driving.
These measures reflect the authorities’ commitment to improving road safety and addressing traffic challenges in Punjab. With consistent efforts, Lahore is on its way to becoming a model city for safer and more efficient urban transportation.
