Islamabad, 26 March 2025: Pakistan has unveiled a 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, set to begin on April 9.

The selection process focused on players’ recent form and fitness, with a 10-day training camp running until March 30 to finalize the lineup.

Fast-bowling all-rounder Fatima Sana has been appointed captain, having previously led Pakistan in both T20Is and ODIs.

The squad also features the return of Shawaal Zulfiqar, who has been out of action since December 2023 due to a shoulder injury.

The Women in Green will host the sixth edition of the Women’s Qualifier from April 9 to 19.

A total of 15 teams will compete, including hosts Pakistan, Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, and Thailand.

Matches will take place at Gaddafi Stadium and the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground.

The tournament will open with Pakistan facing Ireland at Gaddafi Stadium, while West Indies will take on Scotland at LCCA on the same day.

The top two teams at the end of the league-stage matches will secure a place in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

They will join Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and hosts India, who have already qualified through the ICC Women’s Championship (2022-25).
