Islamabad, 23 April 2025: Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen has reiterated his unwavering commitment to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise.

He described it as a deeply personal venture that he remains passionate about, despite ongoing discussions regarding the team’s financial future.

Tareen, a key figure in the Sultans’ recent success, addressed rumours of a possible exit after PSL’s tenth season.

During a media interaction, he clarified that there was no intention of walking away from the team.

He stressed that the franchise was simply re-evaluating its financial agreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Tareen said the current financial model burdens owners, and renewing the contract with a 25% hike would lead to further losses.

Instead, he plans to activate a clause that would end the current agreement.

He then hopes to submit a fresh bid, aiming for a valuation similar to Karachi Kings’ $26 million, ten-year deal.

Tareen also referenced the financial difficulties faced by the franchise’s earlier owners, explaining that the Sultans were rescued from collapse when his group stepped in.

He intends to keep the project going under more sustainable terms.

Speaking about the team’s 33-run win over Lahore Qalandars, Tareen said he was pleased with the players’ response to their earlier defeat against Islamabad United.

He also praised the coaching staff for remaining calm and focused.

Highlighting the franchise’s commitment to nurturing local talent, he proudly spoke of the Tareen Cricket Academies, which now operate throughout the year for both boys and girls.

He shared the story of 14-year-old Sheher Bano, who recently represented Pakistan at the Under-19 level despite having no prior experience when she joined.

Looking ahead, Tareen revealed plans to enhance cricket infrastructure in South Punjab, including new stadiums in DHA Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur.
