Islamabad, Sep 3: Bangladesh won the second Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to seal a historic 2-0 series victory over Pakistan. It was their first-ever series win against the hosts. On the last day, the Tigers took six wickets as they pursued a goal of 185 runs.

Veteran cricketers Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim led the way, finishing undefeated with scores of 21* and 22*, respectively. Bangladesh won their historic series against Pakistan thanks to their calm collaboration, which also marked their first-ever Test series win.

Opening batsman Zakir Hasan got Bangladesh’s run chase off with a blistering forty-odd off just 39 balls before being bowled by Mir Hamza. Bangladesh was kept on course by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (38) and Mominul Haque (34) despite losing two more wickets, till the experienced pair of Mushfiqur and Shakib completed the task.

Earlier, Hasan Mahmud, who claimed his first-ever five-wicket haul in Test cricket, had a devastating bowling effort that saw Pakistan’s second innings conclude at 172. After Bangladesh’s bowlers had earlier brought Pakistan down to 9/2, Pakistan’s lead was increased to 184 thanks to a determined 43 from Mohammad Rizwan and a crucial 47 from Salman Ali Agha.

It was insufficient, though, as Bangladesh started the last day of play at 42/0 and steadily worked their way up to win the series.
