Islamabad, Nov 6: Google Messages to Soon Support Sending Photos in Original Quality. Google Messages gets ready to change Android image sharing with a feature enabling users to transmit photos at their high quality over RCS. Out this week in beta, this change adds an HD & HD+ switch in the Photo Picker, letting people send photos with very little compression or in their most uncompressed states.
This is well in line with the chief executive’s efforts to popularise RCS beyond Android and enhancing the messaging experience by replacing the grainy, compressed images caused by heavy compression. Just like with the HD photo function in WhatsApp, the “HD” option enables users to share images with improved efficiency at the cost of quality but “HD+” saves the image as received with the use of more data and time compared to the former.
The feature is announced after Google has introduced Ultra HDR support the same in Google Messages, which is a feature supported by Android 14 that boosts image quality through additional meta information for HDR-compliant apps. This way, it is guaranteed that even with the app of the receiver not supporting HDR format, a quality picture will be displayed. This addition only strengthens the position of Google Messages in the field of RCS, which allows for a more efficient sharing of photos, as in other instant messengers.
Besides, high quality of image sharing, Google Messages continues to work on its new features adding the possibility of editing RCS messages in the space of 15 minutes after sending them and improving user’s privacy by automatically cutting off suspicious calls and messages. It also makes complete sense as an ongoing evolution helps position Google Messages as a leader in RCS messaging space.
