Islamabad, 23 April 2025: The Saudi Arabia cricket team has arrived in Malaysia to participate in the Quadrangular T20I series against Thailand, Singapore, and the host nation.

The tournament will kick off on April 24, at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, with Saudi Arabia facing Thailand at 10 a.m., followed by a match between Malaysia and Singapore at 2 p.m.

Each team will play two matches against each of the others, with the top teams advancing to the final and the third-place play-off on May 2.

Saudi Arabia’s most recent T20I appearance was in December 2024 at the Gulf Cricket T20I Championship in Dubai, where the team faced strong competition from the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar.

In a memorable match, Saudi Arabia triumphed over the UAE by 11 runs. Usman Khalid, who scored 57 off 40 balls, played a crucial role, while Usman Najeeb’s 4 for 25 helped seal the victory.

Despite this achievement, Saudi Arabia narrowly missed out on a spot in the final.

Earlier in 2024, Saudi Arabia made headlines by winning the ACC Men’s Challenger Cup in Bangkok, beating Cambodia by five wickets in the final, securing both teams’ qualification for the ACC Premier Cup.

Saudi Arabia’s squad has been in fine form, with Faisal Khan’s remarkable performance throughout the tournament, including 166 runs and 13 sixes, further solidifying their reputation as an emerging force in the T20 scene.

Malaysia, ranked 26th in the ICC world rankings, will be competing alongside Saudi Arabia, ranked 32nd. Singapore and Thailand, ranked 38th and 55th respectively, will also be aiming to improve their standings.

The tournament is expected to be highly competitive, offering all teams a chance to move up in the rankings.

Alongside the senior team, Saudi Arabia’s under-16 squad will also be competing in the ACC U-16 West Zone Cup, taking place in Doha from April 23 to May 5.

This provides another significant opportunity for the country’s young talent to showcase their skills on the international stage.
